Why Mobile Matters for Inbound Marketing – Interview with Bob Ruffolo
The web is a roller coaster of change. Just when you think you bought the right site and added the best page, two minutes later those items are out dated. Who knew five years ago that mobile would be so important to web design. Oh, and for those of you who don’t think mobile matters in your Inbound Marketing strategy, check out these fun facts from Pew Research:
- 67% of cell owners find themselves checking their phone for messages, alerts, or calls — even when they don’t notice their phone ringing or vibrating.
- 44% of cell owners have slept with their phone next to their bed because they wanted to make sure they didn’t miss any calls, text messages, or other updates during the night.
- 29% of cell owners describe their cell phone as “something they can’t imagine living without.”
On a similar note, did you know that 42% of American adults own a tablet computer? That’s why I knew the need for our latest interview was highly relevant and important to our community.
In today’s interview I get to sit down and chat with CEO and Founder of Impact Brand and Design, Bob Ruffolo. We talk extensively about mobile devices and marketing strategies. Bob has worked with many clients to help them transform their old style websites into responsive sites and beyond. You might be wondering what I mean by beyond… well we’ll get to that in a minute. I don’t like being a Debby Downer but I have to be honest, and while this next statement might hurt, it needs to be said. If your company website is not responsive, meaning it does not work on all mobile screens, then you are unfortunately offering a broken solution to your potential customers. If they get to your site on their mobile devices and have to scroll left or right or pinch to zoom in, they will not stay on your site for long. This means the next stop is your digital competitor.
So what about the beyond statement I made earlier? Mobile is just one area that needs to be fixed. Other key areas of importance to your future digital success are items such as:
- Contextual Strategies
- Adaptive Design
I know there’s a lot to focus on, I get it. Just relax – we’re here for you. Get comfortable and watch this interview for some great action items for you to move forward with.
