A Review of Cloudy.Email with Maruf Yusupov: One Last Tool 2.2

Maybe some right ways to do it and a tool to use it with. Before I get into that, let’s go ahead and talk to our guest today. First of all, why don’t you tell the audience who you are, who you work for, and maybe what you do there, and the audience that this is going to be resonating too.
Maruf: Hey. Hey, George. This is Maruf, here. I am, by the way, I’m overseas, I guess, from most of you guys who are listening. We are based in Europe, in Denmark, I’m the co-founder of Cloudy.Email. That’s email marketing tool for email marketers.
George: Very cool. So up until this point, we’re just going to call it Cloudy, but know when you’re searching for it, it’s probably Cloudy.Email. So, let’s do this. Let’s start at the very beginning. We’re going to start at the basics, we’ll work ourself into the weeds potentially, or into the micro-sections of this. When you’re trying to figure out email, and you see your tool, how do you explain, what is cloudy?
What Is Cloudy.Email?
Maruf: Cloudy is just an email marketing software. For example, for companies who want to send regular updates and news to their readers, for example on vlog. They usually end up using email marketing like MailChimp, [inaudible 00:02:27] just Cloudy is one of them. But is a bit different strategy and we can talk about a bit later. So this is our difference. Otherwise, it’s just email software.
George: All right. So, email software, that’s the simple what it is, and I sort of heard some competitors, maybe, but we’ll talk about that later. Let’s go one step deeper, and let’s talk about how does Cloudy actually work. I want to do this, what do I need to know, or what are the moving parts of this?
How Does Cloudy.Email Work?
Maruf: Sure. Well, you have to sign up first, of course, it’s free signup. This is the beautiful part of Cloudy, because if you go to any other email software, you sign up, of course, but as soon as you begin to put your list on the software, they begin to charge you based on how big is your list, even though you sent or not. We don’t think it’s fair, so the Cloudy’s different. You can go to Cloudy, sign up, you can upload your list. We don’t care how big or small it is, you don’t pay anything. You pay only when you send. You create your campaign, you have to import your list, you select your list, or lists if you want to, then hit the send button, and we send your emails.
George: So, the fact that you can start to build a list, and hold these people in there, and not actually have to pay until you send, that’s actually brilliant. Because I know there’s so many people out there that are either personal brands, or small businesses, entrepreneurs, startups. They want to start building that list, but they’re like, “Oh my gosh, I don’t have the additional funds yet, but when I know I have a large enough list that I can actually monetize it, then this might make sense.” Let’s talk about that, I mentioned entrepreneurs, startup, but I want to hear from you, who do you feel is the best fit for Cloudy?
Who is the best fit for the Cloudy.Email?
Maruf: I mean, we have different customer segments. As you said, there are those entrepreneurs, like us, where just starting out, they want to build their list and understand the power of email marketing. It could be for them. But, it could also be for them because, as I said, if you have a large list, say 50,000 100,000, if you send only once a week, it may begin to hurt you if you use hundred email software, because it begin to charge you close to a thousand and more. With us, let’s say you have if you have 100,000 list, 100,000 emails, if you want to send, that’s fair call it twice a month, our pricing also even we did it in a special way. Cloudy charges only $1 for sending 1,000 emails. It’s very simple. So, if you have 100,000 email, if you send only once a month, you pay $100, that’s it. If you don’t send, you don’t pay anything at all. Compared to, for example, other guys, you may end up paying couple hundred dollars, maybe 1,000, I don’t know.
George: I can tell you … Yeah, I was sort of speechless for a second. I can tell you that that’s a bargain at, I don’t know, seven times the price. That’s really … I like that, that’s definitely a value to the tool and to the community who might choose to use that tool as well. Let’s back up for a second, and I always love to be solving a problem. The One Last Tool podcast, we’re talking to these tools, because we want to know what problems they solve. So, Cloudy, and we know who the best users, but what problem would you say, this is what we’re doing, this is what we’re solving for you?
What Problems Does Cloudy.Email Solve?
Maruf: We’re solving mainly two problems. One of them is, to send mass emails and deliver in Inbox, so they don’t end up in Spam or on their filters. The way we do that, we work with Amazon AW Services, so instead of doing that, we hold all this IP applications to Amazon and they handle that, we just an engine. On the other hand, we help companies to send this mass emails at affordable prices. So, there are two things, deliver, with high delivery open rates, and do it as cheap as possible.
George: We kind of let the cat out of the bag, usually the next question I ask is, how much does it cost. We know how much it costs, it’s very inexpensive. With that, let’s not really, unless you have more cost conversation you want to cover, maybe we could just jump into, I’m looking at this, I’m crazy because I’m not looking at price, I still want to look at competitors. Who are Cloudy competitors? Who do you consider competitors in your space?
Who are Cloudy.Email’s major competitors?
Maruf: Well, only the competitors is any other email marketing software. It could be MailChimp, [inaudible 00:07:15]. But, of course, we look at the competitors. But, as I said, our pricing is the more of the different part, we just put our price … I just want to mention one thing, if listeners, they want to keep one thing from this podcast is just one thing, you pay $1 for 1,000 emails, that’s it. That just explains everything, should compare to others, you begin to understand. We’re the same high open rates and reliability and just gives the thing. Of course, in the letter, in the thing, we’ll also explain what our plans for 2017, to give a better picture. In 2016, was for us, building the main core, [fresh on 07:54] sending email efficiently, deliver Inbox, and effective, like cheap. But in 2017, we have two more new features which makes us a little bit apart in other guys in the market. This is something later, I don’t want to spoil the surprise.
George: Yeah. I like surprises. I never can wait for surprises, so let’s go ahead and move into that, because we talked about what the competitors are, but let’s talk about what makes you, Cloudy, better than your competitors?
What makes Cloudy.Email better than the competitors?
Maruf: Except the price and reliability, one of the things that are important for us is we are very customer-centric. If you come to our website, you can always chat with somebody else. We always reply to you in person, we’ll help you to get aboard personally. If there’s anything … There’s always a person on the other side of the screen, who can talk to, listen to your needs. That’s it, I guess. We care about customers, we are there always for them.
George: I like that. What I hear is that you, even though this is about email, and it’s about digital, when it comes to consumer, the person who’s going to be using Cloudy, there’s decent support. There’s going to be a face, there’s going to be somebody helping you through the process. Which is priceless, because there’s so many software companies out there that-
Maruf: You cannot talk to anyone.
George: Yeah, it’s just not that way. Here’s the thing, as I’ve traveled the interwebs, I’ve noticed that there’s two different types of people. There’s those techie people, they’re just savvy, they get it, there’s no problems. Then, there’s those people that well, they’re not. What are the potential problems with somebody who picks up Cloudy, they want to do this email thing, what are some of the potential problems that they actually might face when they get started?
What Problems Might A Cloudy.Email User Run Into When Using The Software?
Maruf: That’s a very good question. I mean, if that person was never used any of their email microsoftwares, they might have issues to create a campaign. But, otherwise, my background in user experience, we created the Cloudy in very, very simple. Even the people who are coming from [inaudible 00:10:08] other, they say, “Wow, this even simpler than MailChimp.” I think, potentially, some people might face it, but the beautiful part, as we said, we’re always online. If someone has question, they can always expect just a couple of clicks away and we are right there, and we will help them along.
