In 2001 and fresh out of college, Marcus Sheridan stumbled across his first business with two friends and began installing swimming pools out of the back of a beat-up pickup truck. Nine years later, and with the help of incredible innovations through inbound and content marketing, Sheridan’s company overcame the collapse of the housing market and became one of the largest pool installers in the US and currently has the most visited swimming pool web site in the world—www.RiverPoolsandSpas.com.
With such success, in late 2009, Sheridan started his sales, marketing, and personal development blog—The Sales Lion, and has since grown The Sales Lion brand to be synonymous with inbound and content marketing excellence while being featured in multiple industry publications, including the New York Times where he was referred to as a “web marketing guru.”
Today, when Sheridan is giving riveting and passion-filled keynotes around the globe or consulting with businesses and brands, he generally finds himself on an adventure with his wife and 4 children.
After spending 15 years working in a traditional marketing agency to design and build websites and many other types of content, George had the joy of accepting a phone call from Marcus Sheridan asking him to join The Sales Lion team. After he picked the phone up off the floor and stuttered his way through an acceptance, he joined the team and @GeorgeBThomas was born.
As an inbound designer and brand strategist, George’s daily contributions include inbound strategy and design, HubSpot intensive training, speaking at conferences, content marketing, and social media marketing as well as business management and development. To support these roles, he maintains the following HubSpot certifications: Inbound Certificiation, HubSpot Certificiation, HubSpot Partner Certificiation, Design Certificiation, and Contextual Certificiation.
George will tell you that his brain must consume new knowledge every day which is why he enjoys learning, teaching, and developing new solutions for companies who want to work hard and grow. He loves to answer questions and speak at events. Oh, and sit down for an ice cold, southern sweet tea every now and then.
Hailing all the way from the cold streets of Wasilla, Alaska, Kevin Phillips may very well be the world’s northernmost content marketing pro. In June 2014, Kevin took on the role of content marketing manager for a chain of sleep clinics spread across Alaska. Through applying the principles of They Ask, You Answer to the company’s digital marketing efforts, Kevin was able to take the clinics website from receiving around 2,500 visits a month to the nearly 300,000 and climbing.

Meet Patrick Johnson, The Sales Lion’s Videographer and Social Media Manager.
Patrick joined TSL in May of 2016 to shoot, edit, and publish TSL’s newest weekly video blog offering, The Balance.
Anyone that has ever criticized millennials for being lazy and entitled must not have met Patrick. What Patrick lacks in experience in the marketing world, he more than makes up for with hard work, dedication, creativity, and ambition. It’s not easy to spend each week traveling while shooting several hours of footage and be able to turn around with a final video blog on a regular basis. But that’s just what Patrick does. And he loves every minute of it.

Zach joined the TSL team in January 2017 as the Content Manager. He produces, edits, and oversees much of the educational content that we produce for The Sales Lion community. A long time friend and protégé of George B Thomas, he caught Marcus’ eye after he completed every available certification in the HubSpot Academy in less than 30 days.
With a background in graphic and web design, as well as experience running an inbound marketing agency, Zach brings an understanding of content marketing that compliments our philosophy of “They Ask, You Answer”. He strives to teach philosophies of visual and written content that generate trust and integrity for the organizations we work with.
Zach is also our Social Media and Video Marketing trainer, assisting companies in generating their video content in-house, and developing professional production techniques. You’ll find many of his resources on video marketing on our YouTube and Facebook page.
In his free time, you’ll find him either hiking or adventuring in town or around the world. Always with a camera in hand. 🙂
